The most important meal

I am a victim of marketing.
I bought Special K because I remembered their commercials of fit, healthy women. And because the K looks so festive and red is my favorite color. And because it was on sale. Maybe that one should have been the first reason. Anyway, pardon my French, but Special K sucks.

I am not a breakfast person, but in order to maintain my nursing baby I am feeling obligated to try harder to eat some healthy meals.
Typical breakfast before baby: anything I could eat while driving the kids to school. This limited my options greatly so usually it was a cookie.
Typical breakfast now: old person cereal with a smidgin' of milk in the bowl to moisten the flakes. Usually it is Honey Bunches of Oats, but I was willing to try something new if it was on sale because I actually don't like the bunches part of Honey Bunches of Oats. (Am I picky?)
Enter Special K stage left.

One bowl is like eating crunchy air. No wonder they say it will help you lose weight. You surely can't gain weight if you aren't eating anything. Actually, I take it back. I think I would gain weight because in order to feel satiated I had a rice krispie treat and two pieces of licorice after my bowl of cereal. Maybe I should have checked the label to see if a serving size was actually one entire box?

I can't believe I'm whining about cereal. Should I just go back to my cookies? What do you eat for breakfast? help!

What do I eat for breakfast? Homemade granola that my sweet wife makes for me. It tastes pretty good, but the main reason for eating it is because it is quick yet feels me up twice as much as any cereal. Too bad sweet wife doesn't like eating it -- just making it.

In my defense, I did make my own granola before showing sweet wife years ago how to do it. I am so pampered.

I don't know if I have ever had special K. I, like you, have been tempted to buy it based on the weight loss promise.
My breakfast is usually a piece of wheat bread or a frozen waffle(toasted) that is eaten in the car on the way to Kindergarten.
I see nothing wrong with cookies for breakfast.

Oatmeal but it does take quite a bit of time to make and consume. It does fill me up all morning, though!

I have to have variety in my morning... sometimes it's a quick bowl of raisin bran or just regular bran flakes. Sometimes it's a Fiber One bar because it's healthy... sometimes it's a frozen waffle (the Fiber One Variety - I'm a slave to their "healthy" claims)... sometimes it's a little yogurt (yes, and sometimes I sprinkle fiber one on my yogurt)...

Of course, sometimes it's just a banana - but I have to eat SOMETHING or I get to be a terribly crab!

Too funny. Yes, I've occassionally had the urge to buy Special K because the commercials make it sound like you'll be the healthiest person around...
I keep sticking to frosted mini wheats and a banana EVERY morning. I would think I would get bored of the same 'ol thing, but it actually works in reverse. If I skip this tradition I don't keep nearly as good! There's my 2 cents...try 'em, you'll like 'em!
Frosted brown sugar PopTarts are a long-standing breakfast "treat" too : )

oops...I wrote "keep" I meant FEEL! You know those double-E words get soooo confusing!

Cookies are great for breakfast!!!! Especially when you substitute applesauce (no sugar added) for the butter, double the amount of oatmeal and ¼ the amount of chocolate chips. My kids never even noticed, and they are not too bad on the health meter. Considering a bowl of fruit loops contains as much sugar and you can’t even eat that in the car!!! However, I wouldn’t recommend this every day, maybe just school days. :) Then just have a wonderful super healthy breakfast on the weekends.

I don't have a problem because I am hungry at breakfast now. I don't know what changed from 10 years ago..but I love starting my day with a green smoothie to get my 1 veggie serving, 2 fruit serving and 1 milk serving, therefore leaving me to eat candy without guilt for the rest of the day.
PS. Raisin Bran Crunch and chocolate mini-wheats are great fillers! Or you can just eat 3 packets oatmeal like Ike.

I am not a healthy breakfast eater. I like a bowl of my cocoa pebbles. Nothing else even sounds remotely good in the morning. So, your cookie is just as good of a breakfast.

For breakfast most mornings, I just have a Diet Coke...although lately, not so much on the Diet Coke. so instead, I eat nothing for breakfast. Aren't I helpful?

A big bowl of grape nuts should satisfy you until the kids get home.
I splurged and bought Basic 4 last week --yummy.
My favorite choice would be a thick slice of toasted whole wheat bread but nobody around this house makes it!

Ha ha, I'm a cereal girl. Sorry to spoil your fun. And I pick the gross, grown-up cereals like grape nuts, chex, shredded wheat, or corn flakes. I'm trying to branch off for the sake of my kids and actually fix pancakes or eggs once in a while. You know what, though? I think the cookie on the way to school is really working for you! You look great anyways. :)
