So Easily Amused

I remember when one of my brothers(D-Dawg for those who know him) had his first kid. He made the comment that he couldn't remember what they'd done for entertainment before she came along because it was so fun to watch her talk and play. At the time I thought that was pretty sad and that he'd officially entered Boring Life With Children, but now I'm totally with him!

There is no greater entertainment in our home right now than our two-year-old, Noelle. She even has all of her brothers as captive audience members which ranks her higher than cartoons and potty talk. Just ask her a question and laugh hilariously at the answer that makes no sense.
Me: "Noelle, do you want a sandwich for lunch?"
Noelle: "Baby kiss Elmo."
Brothers: "HAHAHAHAHAH!"
Or just ask her to dance. Or to sing a song. Or to hide. Whatever it is, she ends up making everyone laugh. Sadly, I am afraid it is a stage and cannot last much longer. Her older siblings each had a turn being the toast of the town and are now mere audience members. Soon she will catch on that we are using her for cheap entertainment and she'll want to charge admission. Or like other great comics, she will revert to 'adult' humor and I'll have to ban her from her young audience. Maybe she'll actually comprehend our questions and respond appropriately. That will definitely take away all the fun.
Good thing we've got a comic in the wings to take her place. I'm 33 and 1/2 weeks and counting.....

Look at those kissy lips! Just like mama's.

I feel sad I haven't ever had a chance to laugh at Noelle. Why do they have to save their true selves for the home audience?
Do your boys ever stroke or do her hair? Just curious.

can't believe her replacement is going to be here so soon... Of course, that makes me look like the heartless and out of touch SIL because I'm sure YOU have been counting every day whilst Q&I have been partying here in the relative warmth and forgetting all about the pains of third trimesterhood.

glad she can be hilarious when you need a laugh!

I laughed just hearing about it. I'm sure Noelle's even funnier in person.

two year olds can definitely be cute and entertaining. We really enjoy Trey when he is not throwing a tantrum.
Hopefully Noelle is ready to move on before she is replaced

I love 1 and 2 year olds! They are so charming - especially little girls!

Cheap entertainment--bwwaaahhaaaaa! That's so funny (and so cute!) Have you recorded her doing that? Did you already say that and I missed it entirely? In a few years, I will be the cheap entertainment around here . .

Okay, the computer ate my comment from before. So the short version -- when Jake gets well send Noelle on over so I can have double smiles. We sure enjoy Dan even when we're trying to be annoyed at him for ruining the reverence of all of the family prayers.

i don't always get baby/toddler humor, but if it makes everybody laugh their cute, hysterical kid laughs THAT makes me laugh!

Oh, the days of one child! Remember when it took 2 parents to do everything (I'll hold the wet-wipes if you wipe!). Although those days are long gone, the entertainment continues in its varied forms.
Our 2yr. old just walked down the stairs wearing his pajamas, a backpack as big as he is, crooked swim-goggles, and a gun in the his hand. He then told me that his backpack was named "butt-pants."
I'm guessing that he learned that from one of his cousins... or his mom!
