Living with the Divas

DIVA #1
DIVA #2

I'm left alone all day with the divas. The other two somewhat rational children get to go to school. This leaves me alone with the demanding ones.

Diva #1 insists on watching TV before he consumes his breakfast. Preferably, he'd like me to deliver it to him on a tray while he watches TV. And he'd like his oatmeal with 'nothing in it' meaning none of those dried fruit things that make the oatmeal flavorful. And upon being told that we only have oatmeal with somethings in it, he proceeds to throw a diva tantrum. He orders me to pick out all dried apples and those black specks called CINNAMON before he will eat it.

Diva #2 has her own special demands. She insists on getting dressed all by herself even though she has yet to master her own diapering skills and still puts two legs in one hole of her pants. She has incredible diva powers and knows when I am trying to sneakily assist her. She refuses to wear anything fleecy (there goes our winter wardrobe) and has a special fondness for things that don't match. Being as this diva is not even two for another 17 days, I am very worried about her clothing future.

The divas throw awesome fits when they don't get their way. These tantrums happen frequently since I can't really pick out cinnamon from a packet of oatmeal and Diva #2 really needs her diaper properly applied. So we deal with it and I just try to picture the day when my divas are making money like the other divas out there. Then it will be worth it.

It is very funny to hear Ethan yelling at me, "Don't call me a diva!" when he's being particularly demanding.

That is so funny about the fruit...my kids pick it out. But I certainly don't. that is the closet thing to a treat for breakfast that Reg lets me have :) BTW - I saw your sister and I think SIL on Facebook...that's right, I have a friend from the big city (actually a few, just one knows how to use facebook)...anyways, where are you...Sisters...peer pressure here!

Yes...please, join Facebook. It could do with your hilarity.

They're cute divas! Have you ever tried making plain oatmeal? They do have it, you know. Those fruits can be really annoying and overly sweet. I totally identify with tv and breakfast. Numb the tired brain before immersing it in the demands of the day! As for fleece and matching, I know....it's hard when you want your kids to be cute. You just have to hide all the other clothes and put just the one to wear in the drawer.

P.S. Megz will only join facebook if it's her idea first and I think it's too late for that.

I have to agree that the fruit oatmeal packets are sickly sweet -- but I doubt that's Ethan's problem with it. I used to insist that my Mom make me a different pancake if mine had little bubble holes in it (they all do on one side at least). I guess I was as much a diva as anyone. Dan has learned "no". I am not pleased. Today he was arguing with himself and that was funny -- "No, yes, no, yes" all said vehemently.

I was getting worried that you were really picking out the cinnamon - thank goodness you are only slave enough to do the fruit bits. Plain oatmeal is the way to go... although around here Po adds so much brown sugar that it's still sickly sweet.
Everyone has a little Diva in them - us moms try to quash it... but really, do you want it ALL the way gone?

Facebook pressure... yeah, if you don't join you'll never see my piles and piles of old beaus who are now tubby, balding, and perhaps gay. Or at least you'll never know if that's true or not!

Even I am on facebook. Keeping in touch with my teenage neices and nephews has never been easier.

It's hard to start with the Diva-tantrums first thing in the morning. Adrie whined that I put milk in her hot cereal--what's the big deal just EAT!.

The fates are messing with me. All I hear about is Facebook (even tonight at a Pampered Chef party--ordered the rotary grater-so excited to have our own Olive Garden experience)! And CC is right--I hate to do anything because everybody else is doing it. How do I maintain my unique spirit that way??
Plus Hub is totally anti-Facebook. He doesn't want me stalking any more people.

I was glad that your sister alerted you to PLAIN oatmeal as that's what we reverted to when Sara pulled a DIVA with the fancy oatmeal packets. I was raised on ONLY cold cereal and can't touch that oatmeal (grodily stinky) stuff so I can't relate to any complaints about it. Bet you didn't think there was a food I DIDN'T like!??! I do however recommend hot GRITS with butter, honey and sliced bananas...that's a PERFECT winter breakfast! I really couldn't believe I was eating hot cereal, but it just is a great combo (thanks James for being so inventive). You can't get the instant packets of grits though, they don't cook up right, you have to buy the grits in little oatmeal tubs, NOT found at Walmart (usually)! : )
As for fleece...who doesn't like that soft, cozy material??? I'd wear it daily if permitted!!
I still have a hard time letting my kids dress themselves, guess that's what Saturdays are for, hee hee!
I just blame "ALL THOSE BROKEN HANGERS" on why they CAN'T dress themselves. Seems to be working pretty well. It's true, if my kids get something out of their closet...there goes another hanger. I can only find those hangers at Toys R Us and that's too far from Payson to replenish!
It must be getting really late, I'm rattling. Thanks Megan for stirring the pot and getting us all thinking!
As for Facebook...No just kidding : )

I thought the only people who liked grits grew up or served a mission in the south. I tried them once and that was all it took for me to know that I ain't eat'n them again.

And Rhonda...I think we worked together at the jewelry store (for about a week - I was very with child, and was there just to help Chris for the Christmas season)...oh the funny tales you would tell...unless that isn't you.

Facebook helps you keep up with your high school friends...they are still in Payson and if you want to revisit the college days just stop into the registration office cuz you know your college bff's are still there.
