Heat Wave

The above picture evokes many memories for me. The primary one being that despite the smile on my face, I was super-duper ornery. It was 9 in the morning after a night of pretending to sleep in a tent with my kids during my family reunion. We were trying to load up the 200 pounds of belongings we'd had to bring and there was no easy way to the parking lot. Plus there were wasps flying around and our van's storage space seemed to have shrunk over night. And the kicker was that it was already about 102 degrees. Maybe my memory is slightly faulty on that. But for storytelling purposes I'm sticking with it.
Enter January 2011. Two weeks straight of temps in the teens, gunky air, inside recess for restless boys on the verge of ADHD. But guess what? Yesterday we hit 50. We pulled the new Christmas bike out of the garage and miraculously none of the other bikes had flats! We hit our favorite drag-- the local church parking lot (Since we are in such a righteous neighborhood we have two churches with adjoining lots--makes for great bike riding). And today is another winner. Give me those ornery hot days of summer anytime over the dreary gray days where your fingers feel frostbitten just opening the car door.
Catch you later---I'll be laying out on the top layer of snow in my bikini.

Could you snap a pic of yourself in that bikini and post it. I would LOVE to see it.

You're hilarious Megan. I'm loving the weather this week and I'll take it anytime over the sweltering heat of summer. I'm thinking I'm going to copy your idea and pull the bikes out today.

I would take 50 that is nice. Definitely time to play outside!

I have been waiting very impatiently for the hubby to wake up so I can go run in this weather.

I thought that was you I saw outside in the skimpy polka dot bikini. Did you get a tan?

That's a good idea to lay out in the snow- that white of the snow should blend in nicely with your skin color so no one will be offended.

We really haven't taken advantage of the "nice" weather. It's still too gray. Gotta be sunny to truly be warm!

Actually, if the snow is white enough, you might look tan already! Should I bring my camera by? Oh, and I think Magnificent Moogie would be a great puppet name. I'll try to find one with long flowing hair and a mischievous smile.

Glad you've had a break from the frigid temps. James caught some in CO. This last week we found ourselves saying..."It feels like spring." Yesterday we even said, "It feels like summertime!" We're still a little sad we're missing true seasons but I DON'T miss scary, icy roads, thatsforsure!

It was at least 102 at the reunion with 100% humidity and partly waspy. Bring on summer!
Until then I think I'll go on a bikeride, in my bikini.

Totally agree...I can only handle winter until New Years. I've taken Hannah for stroller rides the past two days...maybe we'll see you at the drag.

ah... and that picture reminded me that I won the ornery crown HANDS DOWN that day... despite stiff competition.

memories, bitter sweet memories.

no, I didn't mean bittersweet...

:)

enjoy your heat wave - or just come down for a visit, but leave the bikini at home, it's really more one-piece weather right now around here :)

Amen, sistah! I'm done with this ridiculous weather. I want to throw out my jeans and go for the shorts. Especially because every morning when I get out of the shower I look at my 3 long-sleeve shirts and think, "How many days has it been since I wore this one? Oh, 2 days? K, this is the ONE!" I prefer the heat.
