Can't Compete

So we were at the library today and I was trying to check out my contraband (3 books over the family  max of 25!) when Noelle says wistfully, "I wish she was our mom." I whip my head around to see who she could be talking about. Definitely wasn't the older grouchy librarian....not the balding man....that left the chick who looked maybe 19, in a bright floral halter dress, bright red lipstick and black curly hair. Yep. Noelle was staring right at her. It wasn't like she was doing anything fun in the library like creating balloon animals or ribbon dancing. She was just standing in line for the computers. That made Noelle's judgement rely solely on physical appearance. And apparently mine doesn't measure up. Not enough lipstick? (or any?) Must I dress up to go to the library?  My shallow 3-year-old wants to trade me in for a younger, more vibrant version. As long as Hub doesn't feel the same way, I can live with that. (happy 12th anniversary to us tomorrow!)

Didn't she say that about Devin in his wig on Halloween as well?

Now that we know she loves immodesty it might be time to pull out the lingerie to use in dress-up.

Just wait until Noelle's compliments come, then they'll mean that much more : )

Welcome to the wonderful world of little girls! Remember the saying... Momma’s boy and daddy's girl; well there is a reason for that! Brayden would NEVER say anything like that to his poor mom, but Tyler well…

At least she didn't want the grouchy librarian for her mom... (What is it with the Payson librarians anyway?) Happy Anniversary tomorrow!

Happy Anniversary to you... and frankly, you'd look silly with curly black hair (kind of like Dev on Halloween) so we'll keep you just how you are. What does Noelle know anyway :)

that is funny! Noelle is such cute, funny little girl. Addie has done things like that to me a few times. Maybe it is a girl thing

She is SO CUTE! Maybe next time you bake her FAVORITE cookies you'll have to pull out your brightest, floral-est dress and fix your hair and nails and put on lipstick and show her WHO'S THE BEST MAMA NOW?!! I can BAKE too!!

She probably wouldn't quite appreciate it. But maybe it would make you feel a little better. Hmph.

Happy Anniversary, I hope you get out of the county.

BTW - That wasn't a dig on the county, but rather our 10 year anniversary joke about leaving the country...I figured you wouldn't be offended, but you never know!?

I just stumbled across your blog. This is the funniest story I have ever heard. Ever.

Well, if I were up on my blog reading I would have remembered exactly when your anniversary was! I just remember that I was ginormously round when you got married. As for Noelle, maybe I'll have to try a flashy outfit so I can be her favorite Aunt. I'll have to buy some lipstick too. Hmm. Would red popsicle lips count?
